Our program is centered on a monthly tuition format, with 30 minute weekly private lessons, same day, same time, and same teacher each week. We try to match you with an instructor based on best fit for your musical goals, learning style, and schedule.

Getting started is simple. Reach out through our Lesson Inquiry Form or call the shop desk at 614-488-2477. We’ll walk you through the next steps and answer any questions along the way. We are happy to spend time helping you make the best choice for you or your student.

We have some of the finest and most seasoned instructors in the area. Our instructors work with each student independently, forming a learning path specific to the individual’s goals. Our students range from 6 years to folks in their 80s. We believe that music is a lifelong passion and we support adult students as well as youthful musicians. Guitar House Workshop is truly a family owned independent business. Here you will find a community of knowledgable and compassionate people to help you explore the joy in making music.

GHW tuition lesson students receive 10% on most accessories (most books excluded) and $25 off in stock guitars/banjos owned by the shop. Our busy Repair Department also tries to expedite most routine services to instruments owned by students. When dropping off an instrument for a setup, restring or a simple repair, be sure to mention you are a student at the shop. We will do our best to get your instrument back in your hands as fast as possible.

In 2026, monthly tuition lessons run $140 for a four week month, and proportional for 3 and 5 week months. The program is a “month-to-month” program, renewing automatically until terminated by contacting the shop desk staff. (More about ending lessons below). Tuition students have a Mastercard or Visa on file for auto-pay which runs between the 25th and the last day of the prior month. For those who can’t commit to the same day and time each week, singles rate lessons are available up to 2 weeks in advance and are $46.65 each. We are strongly biased toward our monthly tuition program as it provides the most consistent learning environment for students and the best working conditions for our instructors. You can find more details in our Lesson Policy, found on our Lesson Program page (button below).

Sometimes regularly scheduled weekly lessons just don’t fit into a student’s life. We are happy to schedule you for a singles rate lesson which costs $46.65 each. These can be scheduled up to two weeks in advance.
However, if you are interested in studying with an instructor, for a period of time, we might suggest setting up for monthly tuition because you will get a more complete feel for the match-up. We prorate your first month, as our program works on calendar months. If you feel you would like to try a different instructor, you can let us know before the 25th of your first month and we will work to find you another lesson option starting the following month.
-
On rare occasions, tuition students may need to miss lessons in an upcoming month. In that case, students can contact the shop desk before the 25th of the prior month and request a move to singles rate lessons for the lessons they will be attending. Three singles rate lessons costs the same as a four week month on tuition. Put another way, the tuition program provides 4 lessons for the price of three! If you need to miss more than one lesson, moving to singles rate lessons allows the student to “hold” their time slot and return to monthly tuition the following month. We do not hold time slots for students wishing to miss an entire month. In that case, the student will be removed from the roster and are invited to call the desk when they are ready to return to lessons.
It’s important to note that if your schedule requires you to regularly miss lessons, single lessons might be a better choice for your learning plan. These lessons are also scheduled at the shop desk for each instructor. We are not able to accommodate regular requests for altered tuition lessons.
-
Unfortunately our program is quite full and is not structured to allow for shifting lesson times. The commitment to a specific day and time by both you and your instructor provides the most economical way we can bring you supremely qualified instructors, pay them fairly, and “keep our lights on”. We do credit you for missed lessons by instructors as well as student missed lessons due to true illness or family emergencies. Those credits are applied to the following month’s tuition. Unplanned teacher- missed lessons will be credited to your account by the desk. If you feel you qualify for a student - missed lesson credit, call the shop desk ASAP. Your instructors are not able to credit your account.
-
Contact the shop desk. If your instructor has an alternate time slot available that will work for your new schedule, we will move you to that new time slot - even part way through the month. While we can’t “spot place you”, we can offer a new time slot if one is available. It does make sense to plan ahead though. . . our teachers are popular and have hefty schedules. You are welcome to talk to your instructor about the problem, but remember, teachers do all things teaching and no things scheduling /billing- so come talk to the shop desk for any change in your lesson scheduling.

Gary Puckett often leads a 6 week group Jam Class on Saturdays. Occasionally he changes things up with a Blues, Theory, or Improv class. From time to time, other Instructors offer group classes which are advertised in our emails, on Facebook and Instagram.
We do not offer bi-weekly or semi private lessons. Over the years we have found that we are not able to offer those classes as economically or confusion free as our weekly lesson program.
-
All of our instructors are talented teachers. Each teacher has their own teaching style, and personality. Once in awhile a student might have a concern or feel they are mismatched. We are here to listen and to help you work through the best way forward for you. Our teachers are professionals, and they want you to have the best musical experience possible, even if (in rare instances) it means changing instructors. Our staff can help you resolve whatever is causing discomfort.
-
We just need to know at our shop desk prior to the 25th of the prior month.
Call or email the shop desk with your request to end lessons prior to the 25th of the month before you want to end. It is important to note that your instructors do ALL THINGS TEACHING and NO THINGS BILLING. So, when you are ready to take a break, contact the shop desk . We WILL confirm that we received your message and let you know that billing has been addressed. Once tuition has been paid for the month, we do not refund tuition, so be sure to contact the desk BEFORE the 25th of the month to request changes in billing.
